DEATH OF MRS. DAVID SHADLEY

Mrs. David Shadley, a pioneer of Hartwick township, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. David Cook, at Avondale, Sunday evening, January 16.
Miss Elizabeth J. Clark was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, May 7, 1841. Ten years later her parents moved to Harding county, Ohio, where she was educated, and Feb. 26, 1863, was married to David Shadley. Mr. and Mrs. Shadley located on a farm for a time, and in April, 1967, came to Osceola county, traveling the entire distance with team and pioneer wagon, and consuming 23 days on the trip. Mr. Shadley located 160 acres on section 24, Hartwick, from the government, to which he added by purchase, and became prosperous farmer and lumberman. Mrs. Shadley withstood the trials and hardships of pioneer life with courage and fortitude, and reared her large family, and became identified with all the actives of the early settlement. She was a sister to Littleton Clark, of Evart, Henry L. Clark, Ada, Ohio, Oliver, of Middle Branch, Lloyd, of Texas, all well known early settlers of Osceola county, and mother of Clement and Lewis Shadley, and Mrs. David Cook, of Avondale. Mr. Shadley's death occurred several years since.
Funeral was held Wednesday from the Baptist church, Avondale, Rev. W.W. Chatfield, officiating, and burial in Cherry Valley Cemetery.

Elizabeth married David Shannon Shadley, son of Asaph Shadley and Margaret Wolverton, on 26 Feb 1863 in Hardin County, Ohio, USA. (David Shannon Shadley was born on 26 Dec 1841 in Ada, Hardin County, Ohio, USA, died on 26 Jan 1909 in Hartwick Township, Osceola County, Michigan, USA and was buried in Avondale, Osceola County, Michigan, USA, Cherry Valley Cemetery.)
