MRS. ROBERT MOWAT DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER
Mrs. Robert MOWAT, who since the death of her husband, three years ago, has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. F.D. ELTON, at Flint, died Saturday evening, March 19, 1927, after a five days illness with bronchial pneumonia. Mrs. Mowat, whose maiden name was Sarah Evelyn LEEMAN, was one of a family of eleven children, and a native of New York state. She was born August 3, 1855, and was at the time of her death 71 years, 7 months and 15 days of age. December 13, 1873, she was united in marriage at Greenville to Robert Mowat, of St. Johns, and to them were born a daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. F.D. Elton), of Flint, and a son, Edgar, who resides on a farm near Avondale. Mrs. and Mrs. Mowat were pioneer settlers of Hartwick, coming there in 1873. Thirteen years ago they moved to Evart, where they lived until Mr. Mowat's death, July 16, 1924. Left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving christian mother are the daughter and son, a sister, Mrs. Hattie HAVENS, of Sylvan, a brother, Walter W. Leeman, of Grand Rapids, nine grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. The body was brought to Evart Sunday, by Undertaker George Gray, of Flint, and taken to the son's home where services were held Monday at 11 o'clock a.m. conducted by Rev. W. H. Bailey of the Baptist church of which Mrs. Mowat was a member. Interment was made in Forest Hill cemetery.
