OBIT: FIFTY YEARS A RESIDENT OF EVART. Robert Mowat Passed to His Reward July 16, in His 71st Year. Robert Mowat died at his home in Evart on Wednesday, July 16 at the age of 71 years, having been born at Ypsilante, Michigan, February 24, 1853. He was married to Sarah Eval- ine [ink spot], of Oakfield, Kent county, December 13, 1873, and was the father of two children, Myrtle May and Ed- gar Mowat. The marriage had been a happy one, and their golden wed- ding was celebrated last December 13, in a joyous manner. His peace was made with God and was ready and willing to meet his master. He lived in and around Evart for the past fifty years, and was one of the earliest citizens here. He was prominent in local affairs of his town- ship, having served Hartwick town- ship as treasurer four years, super- visor four years, justice two years. After removing to Evart he served two years as sexton at Forest Hill cemetery two years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. • Biography. Robert Mowat was a lifelong resident of the State of Michigan. He was born in Washtenaw County, resided with his parents in Clinton County, and lived more than 50 years with his wife in Osceola County, all in the State of Michigan. He started out as a lumberman in Osceola County when timber was king and became a noted citizen of Hartwick Township and Evart Village in that county.
